Nepal pockets a diverse culture, folklore and literature. And it is a dot but uniquely apparent and apprehensible to excel the typical Nepali recipe of poetry and other literature to the world literature.

I am writing about The Himalayan Sunrise.

This book anthologises a compilation of interviews, reviews, translated poetry and impressions which is a venture of Book Hill Int’l & Global Literature in Libraries Initiatives (GLLI). It’s more beautiful and worth reading when it comes in an edit under Dr. Sangita Swechcha, who also pens tremendously impressive novel and poetry; and Karen Van Drie, a well-known editor of the Global Literature in Libraries Initiatives (GLLI), a lot USA-based based organisation working towards the visibility of world literature. I can see their effort is enigmatically presented from designing to the compilation and publication.

A reason why it reads worth and compelling is that it’s succeeded to feature poems from legendry writer Tulasi Diwasa to celebrated poet Usha Sherchan. This unveils the literary scenario of the country represented to the global arena.

After going through the correspondences with leading Nepali publishers such as FinePrint, Book Hill, etc. they help to understand the way they are working in the field of publications and the books they are marketing to the Nepali and global market. Also, celebrated translators like Mahesh Poudyal, Jayant Sharma and others articulate what is to be done to raise Nepali flavor of literature to the world.  The best-selling writers like Nayan Raj Pandey and Ashwini Koirala view how our words can be reached to beyond borders.

This is the first time, probably, I came across with such book which blends different genres in a single volume showcased the literary panorama of Nepali literature to the world forum.

As its name suggests, this is more than an endeavor to bring a rise Himalayan shine in the world’s literature horizon.
