Nepal Chambers of Commerce Hong Kong President Lab Kumar Gurung has expressed his concern over the dire shortage of manpower currently being faced by business establishments in Hong Kong. During the 15th Anniversary of the establishment of the Chamber, President Gurung urged that, under his leadership, NCCHK would work together with the governments of Nepal and Hong Kong.
Nepal Chambers of Commerce, Hong Kong -NCCHK_ celebrated its 15th Anniversary on June 28. The conference hall of the Intercontinental Grand Stanford Hotel at East Tsim Sha Tsui was packed with over 100 Hong Kong–based business and social entrepreneurs.
The event was observed by Chief Patron and Consul General of Nepal for Hong Kong and Macau Mr. Uday Bahadur Rana Magar, Head Consulate and Chamber Engagement Investment HK Mr. KC Lam, Chair of Asia and Africa Committee Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Mr. Jonathan Lamport, and Chair of Kowloon Chamber of Commerce Mr. Yuen Ka Lok Ernest.
During the congratulatory speech session from the guests, Mr. Uday Bahadur Rana Magar signified the importance of NCCHK to promote Hong Kong trade with Nepal.
The 15th Anniversary of the Chamber also saw Chairman of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pawan Kumar Prajapati as a Special Guest. Mr. Prajapati led a team of 17 delegates altogether from Nepal. Mr. Prajapati congratulated NCCHK, and before handing a set of Tokens of Love to NCCHK, he offered various opportunities on how NCCHK and Pokhara Chamber can work together for developing businesses and helping grow the economy of both countries.
In the historic event, Honorable Representative of Federation Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Krishna Pandey, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Nepal Aruna Gurung, NRNA Hong Kong President Gokarna Dhakal, Hong Kong Nepalese Federation President Rita Gurung, Hong Kong Manager of Nepal Airlines Arbindra Prajapati, Federation of International Nepali Youth Entrepreneurs President Akash Banjara, NCCHK Chief Advisor Dasu Ram Parajuly were also among the distinguished guests.
With its slogan “Grow Your Business, Grow Your Community”, the NCCHK organized such an activity for the first time in the past three years largely due to the pandemic COVID. The event was chaired by the Chamber’s President Lab Kumar Gurung, whereas, General Secretary Shashi Madan Rai delivered a welcome speech before the rest of the program was hosted by Soyna Dhakal and Sweta Pandey. The event was managed by NCCHK Secretary Danny Bardan Gurung and his team from the executive committee.
The event was inaugurated by playing the National anthem of Nepal and the PeopleÚs Republic of China, with a group of young ladies waving the flag of Hong Kong and China. All distinguished guests on the front bench were seen on the stage at the Ribbon Cutting and Cake Cutting sequence.
In the second phase of the program, HK–based Nepali 12 business entrepreneurs were awarded what is called Achievement of Excellence. In Gurung of Slow Mio and Na Thai Restaurant and Bar, Chit Gurung of Bistrocana Restaurant & Bar, Indra Gurung of Image Hair Salon, Rajesh Bhimsaria of Computech Asia Trading, JN Gyawali of Pashupati Store Trading, TB Limbu of Samman Engineering, Mekh Gurung of G–Cladds Limited, Sangita Rai of Sunkoshi Gurkha Security Limited, Dhiraj Sampang of Nepal Finance Limited, Tashi Gurung of Dharma Arts Nepali Handicraft, Prakash Thapa of Sanskriti Jewellers and Rajendra Kumar Shrestha of Sunrise Travels were the ones to be awarded for their outstanding achievement for their respective businesses.
In his closing of the ceremony speech, NCCHK President and Chair of the event Lab Kumar Gurung expressed his thanks to all organizations and individuals, including the guests, sponsors, volunteers and the media, for making the event a grand success.
