London – This year’s Nepali Mela in the United Kingdom has successfully concluded with grandeur and joy. Last Sunday, the 28th of August, about 5,000 Nepalis and other observers, including diplomats from neighbouring countries India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, attended the fair.

The event also saw almost three dozen ethnic and social Nepali organisations in the UK parading at Kempton Park Racecourse with their organic art, culture, costumes, and traditions bringing full of colours and joy to the spectators.

One of the biggest annual Nepali events in the UK, the 13th Nepali Mela was observed by the HE  Gyan Chandra Acharya as the Chief Guest. The Nepalese Ambassador to the United Kingdom said that another whole of Nepal was reflected in Britain. The ambassador said that despite being thousands of miles away from Nepal, the fair played an important role in bringing various Nepali arts, culture, traditions, costumes and language alive.

Mr. Hitkaji Gurung, President of the organiser Tamu Dhee UK, said that since 2009, Nepali Mela has become ‘an-event-for-all’. He thanked all contributors, participants, sponsors and spectators for making the fair successful with everyone’s cooperation amid financial challenges.

The first session of the event was conducted by Tamudhin UK General Secretary Parashuram Gurung, while Senior Vice President and the event coordinator Hari Gurung highlighted the aims and objectives of the fair. He particularly expressed his optimism that the fair would introduce the Nepali culture and inspire the younger generation.
