‘Qatar Qanvas 2023’, the 6th edition of the Nepal Yatra art exhibition, commenced at the Qatar International Art Festival in Doha, Qatar on 20 November 2023.
The exhibition features artist P. Singh’s array of captivating artworks, including acrylic and water colour paintings that artfully capture the beauty of Nepal’s landscapes and its architecturally rich ancient temples and monasteries including Nepal’s wildlife.
Artist P. Singh, whose works have previously graced events in the UK and Nepal, is committed to promoting Nepali culture through his paintings. His contributions were acknowledged by the former Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi, who felicitated Singh in 2020 for his exceptional efforts in promoting Nepali art and culture.
Expressing his excitement, artist P. Singh stated, “I am thrilled to represent Nepal through my artworks in Qatar. Showcasing Nepali art, culture, and landscapes to hundreds of visitors during the five-day exhibition is truly exhilarating.” He also noted the enthusiastic response from visitors towards Nepali artworks. Singh, a Software Engineer at SMBC Bank in London, passionately paints during his free time. Notably, some of his earlier software contributions in Nepal include Typeshala’ typing tutor, ‘Thamel.com,’ ‘Nepali UNICODE,’ and ‘Raajmarg’ road engineering software.
Adding to the artistic flair, Rhoslyn Singh, daughter of P. Singh will have some of her watercolour and pencil artworks exhibited. The 19-year-old artist pursuing Biomedical Engineering in the UK, expressed her excitement, stating, “I am thrilled to have my artworks exhibited in this art festival”.
“The Qatar International Art Festival, running from 20 to 25 November 2023, boasts participation from artists representing more than 65 countries and we are happy to have representation of artworks on Nepal”, said Rashmi Agarwal, Head of the Festival – QIAF. “The festival serves as a global platform, bringing together emerging talents, established masters, art experts, critics, and academicians, showcasing an extensive range of artistic disciplines, including sculpture, painting, and digital and sculptural installations”, she added.
The event was also graced by the Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar Dr Naresh Bikram Dhakal. He said, “Proud to see Nepal’s representation here in Qatar art festival. I really appreciate the artist’s effort.”
